Clean Melted Wax Off Carpet
If there are still bits stuck to the carpet afterward try gently scrubbing the area with a carpet cleaner fabric cleaner or rubbing alcohol.
Clean melted wax off carpet. Change to a clean paper and repeat until you don t get any more up. Stop as soon as you begin to see wax seep into the paper. Place more ice cubes on the spot to harden remaining wax and pry it up with the knife. You ll see that the material will start to absorb the wax and lift it off the carpet.
Place the material over the wax. Remove the plastic bag and begin to scrape the wax off the carpet using a dull knife. The paper should absorb the wax as it melts. Dampen a white cotton towel fold it in half and place it over the wax.
Repeat step number 5 with fresh brown paper or terry cloth until the wax is all gone. Rub gently to melt and remove some of the wax and then reposition the bag to soak up more wax. Now onto the carpet cleaning. The heat will draw the wax out of the carpet and into the towel.
Place a piece of the brown paper bag over the candle wax spill. If the plastic or wax still doesn t come off try freezing it with an ice pack and breaking it apart once it s frozen. Heat an iron to a medium setting with no steam and press the iron to the paper bag directly over the wax. Don t let the iron get too hot or it could melt the carpet or burn the paper.
Using a warm iron slowly press the iron on top of the paper bag or cloth. There is probably still some remaining wax that has now melted so scrape it away with the dull edge of the knife. A paper bag over the wax stain. You can get this wax out of the carpet by using a clothing iron and a towel or clean white cloth.
Run a warm iron over the paper or cloth to heat the wax. Press an iron set on high over the towel for 10 seconds. Continue ironing until all of the wax is soaked up and clean the area with a carpet solvent. Spread a clean terry cloth or brown paper e g.
Chilling the area with ice cubes and scraping the hardened wax will remove most of the wax it may not remove candle wax that the fibers of the carpet have partially absorbed. Blot with a clean white cloth. Get any remaining bits of wax or dye stains out of the rug with a commercial cleaning solution or rubbing alcohol. Repeat until the wax is gone you may have to hold the iron in place for up to 30 seconds.
