Cleaning Paint Off Vinyl Floors

Removing paint spills from linoleum or vinyl floors without damaging the surface can be tricky.

You can often remove latex paint from a laminate floor by scraping it with a plastic scraper.

If the paint is oil based rub it out with white spirit turpentine or acetone. If necessary use a vinyl eraser. Moisten clean cloths with soap and water mixture and wipe off the remaining paint. The acidity in the vinegar helps remove dirt and grime without leaving a buildup of soap or wax.

Simply mix one cup of cider. Do not use ammonia on vinyl flooring as it will cause the vinyl to erode. Use mineral spirits in lieu of rubbing alcohol. One of the best cleansers for vinyl flooring is apple cider vinegar.

Most of the wet paint will be easily removed from vinyl flooring with just water moistened paper towels. If you have a steam mop or can borrow one you may find the steam will remove the latex paint from vinyl floor. You can use a razor as well but do your best to avoid scratching or cutting the vinyl. Start with dish soap and warm water blotting up as much as possible.

After most of the paint has been wiped up mix mild soap with water in a bucket. Dampen a white rag with isopropyl alcohol and rub away heel marks. Remove the remaining paint residue by gently rubbing with a plastic scouring pad and a little dish soap.
