Clogged Kitchen Sink Drain
If you ve noticed standing water in your tub or your kitchen sink draining slowly you probably have a clogged drain.

Now wiggle it up and down while twisting it to remove the clog. The p trap is at the curve of the drainpipe under the sink usually inside a cabinet.
Pour one cup of fresh baking soda down the drain followed by one cup of white vinegar. Unfasten the p trap from the drainpipe and clear out anything that is stuck. Vinegar baking soda borax and lots of hot water are simple yet effective tools in clearing slow draining sinks. If you flip the switch to turn on your garbage disposer and all you hear is a low humming sound your disposer is probably jammed.
Fortunately clearing a stopped up kitchen sink is not a difficult project. Run water in the clogged sink to tell if you ve removed the obstruction. It may be necessary to clean your kitchen drain s p trap to clear the clog. Through daily use debris slowly builds up in the drainpipes of the sink and eventually leads to a clogged drain.
Place a rubber stopper or other sink hole cover over the drain opening. For a good seal with the right plunger you ll need at least three or four inches of water on the clogged side so if necessary run the sink until the water reaches that level. Wait 15 minutes to allow the vinegar and baking soda to unclog your drain then take out the drain cover and run hot tap water down the drain to clear the clog. If the side of the sink that has the disposer doesn t drain plunge it first to remove the clog or force it down the drain.
Fortunately if caught early you can clear a clogged drain using common household items.
