Closet Too Shallow For Hangers
My guest bedroom has an extra shallow closet 15 inches deep.
Closet too shallow for hangers. From the floor there s enough space to add a second rod below it and still hang shirts and slacks. We placed the top of the rod 35 in. On sep 28 2017. It needs to remain a closet but i need an alternate method to hang clothes.
In the meantime hang the suit jackets in another closet. Some homeowners remove the closet doors altogether but that s not ideal. I ve thought about trying to rotate the rod. If your existing closet rod is at least 66 in.
The problem with a shallow closet is that when a closet rod is installed from end to end as closet rods typically are you can t fit clothes hangers on the rod and still close the closet door. This is too narrow for a hanger so clothes hung on the rod end up being angled rubbing against the back wall and the door etc. Get wood for support at studs and put the 3 4 circle usually plastic or wooden dowel holders into those wooden reinforcements. What can i do with this thing.
I would cut the dowel bar you hang the coats on to fit depthwise so there is 2 dowels instead of one. Or buy a new one cut into 2 equal lengths to the depth of closet. Try buying some new plastic hangers and move the hanging rod if necessary to squeeze into the 17 inch space. From the floor which allowed just enough room to hang two levels of pants.
Locate studs on the back wall of the closet with a stud finder.
